EPR penalties are statutory maximums, not automatic fines — but a single missed or late filing turns an unbudgeted, open-ended exposure into a real cost.
For most brands, a single missed filing carries more exposure than years of managed compliance.
The point isn't fear — compliance is a small, predictable cost you can plan; non-compliance is an open-ended one you can't.

Each step is priced for your tier — and every step builds toward full, ongoing compliance.
Closes past-due reports state-by-state.
One past-due cycle is included in every Managed Term.
One cycle covers every obligated state for a single reporting year.
Prepay the full Term and the inclusion matches the Term length.
Extra reports are priced per state.
Choose a Term to see what's covered.
Not a cycle. California's SB 54 Baseline Report (2023 data year) is a one-time filing — $2,500 when outstanding. It does not consume an included cycle.

No. If you already know your brand is covered under EPR, you can start directly at Step 2 (EPR Compliance Blueprint). The Free Status Check is for brands who aren't yet certain of their obligations.
Tracebound (and similar regulatory intelligence platforms) map which regulations apply to your products and monitor changes — they tell you what to do. Orbitlex actually does the work: we submit your filings under filing agent authorization, respond to PRO and state-agency inquiries on your behalf, apply trade-secret designations to sensitive packaging data, and handle backfill / reconstruction when records have gaps.
The two product types are stack-complementary, not stack-substitutive — a sophisticated customer might use both: regulatory intelligence subscription for awareness across the full ESG landscape, and Orbitlex for execution in U.S. packaging EPR. Customers who only need awareness should consider regulatory intelligence subscriptions; customers who want compliance handled completely should engage Orbitlex.
Your Free Status Check identifies past-due filing obligations. From there, the EPR Compliance Blueprint (Step 2) maps the full scope — including backfill requirements — so you enter Managed (Step 4) with a clear picture of what's needed and at what cost. Managed EPR Compliance includes one past-due backfill cycle — where a cycle = one reporting year across all obligated states. Prepay the full Term and the inclusion matches the Term length (a 2-year Term = 2 reporting years of past-due covered across all your states); on annual or monthly billing, one cycle is included whatever the Term length. Full-Term prepayment means paying the whole Term up front, which is not the same as the Annual billing option. Past-due remediation beyond the included cycles is priced per state filing ($1,000–$2,500 by state complexity).
Active programs: California, Oregon, Colorado, Maine, Washington, Minnesota, and Maryland — seven states with live EPR obligations. Managed EPR Compliance covers all active states as a single SKU-tiered subscription — no per-state add-on. Coverage automatically extends as new EPR states go live.
Managed EPR Compliance is offered on a 1, 2, or 3-year Term. The rate is locked at the SKU-tier price for the full Term — no annual increase during the Term. Customers who prepay the full Term also receive matched past-due backfill inclusion (1 cycle per Term year, where a cycle = one reporting year across all obligated states). A 3-year Term prepaid in full, for example, includes 3 reporting years of past-due covered across all your states; on annual or monthly billing one cycle is included.
If a state filing deadline is missed due to Orbitlex error (not delayed client data or supplier inputs), we cover the remediation work for that filing at no additional cost — including any state remediation fees if applicable. This commitment is built into Managed EPR Compliance terms and applies for the full Term length.
Software tools assemble packaging data into reports — but the data work (supplier outreach, classification, weight verification, deadline tracking, exception handling) stays with your team. Orbitlex executes the operational work end-to-end and delivers filed compliance, not a tool. For brands that already have packaging data infrastructure and ops capacity, software can work. For brands that don't (most), the data work is the actual bottleneck — and that's what we operate.
If your confirmed packaging scope (post-intake) is materially smaller than your initial tier — for example, fewer SKUs than estimated, or fewer covered packaging components — we adjust the price down to the appropriate tier. The intent is to charge for the actual work performed, not the initial estimate. Mid-Term tier downgrades are reviewed at renewal; significant material reductions can trigger mid-Term adjustment proactively.
